Not a pro-lifer
I am happy Quebec has passed legislation to give people who are ill the right to die. The right to die and right to choose abortion should be protected. I am pro-death.
Give the good insects a break!
The dragonfly hatch has begun ... from 18th Street passed 34th. Please tell the city entomologist that dragonflies and the bees deserve a break from malathion. Inform the fogfogfog sounder offer that we need to give nature a chance to perform for us.
PLanters look like coffins
I was driving south on First Street past Victoria Avenue and I thought that the street was going to be closed for sewer work. Then I got a closer look. It is not cement rings for underground sewer repair but they are the new planters for the city flowers. Who picked these hideous planters out? Were the old baskets at the end of their life and had to be replaced? Why is the city wasting taxpayers’ money on such unimportant changes? Then things got worse, I seen the new planters, ugly plastic rectangular objects that look like small coffins!
Virden conference delegation too large?
Brandon had to send four people to the FCM Conference at Niagara Falls. Well folks, I think Virden out did you — they sent three — approximately one person per 1,000 residents so at that rate Brandon could have sent a lot more people? Or was it necessary for that many to go from Virden? I believe a lot of money was spent sending three people to have a holiday that could have been spent on our terrible streets!
Global warming or just a natural cycle?
To Sound Off re: global warming warning. So icebergs are melting and it’s all because of the burning of fossil fuels. Have you ever heard of cyclical climate-change, which has been happening for thousands of years?
Take care of your pets
How can a family NOT notice that their cat has not been with them for a couple of days ? Don’t they feed, water and play with the animal? Now it gets loose and it’s a big deal. And what about a dog? Didn’t you maybe think that possibly this dog is out bothering neighbours continually over an extended period of time? Our flower bed actually smelled of cat urine when the city set the trap. We caught 17 cats over a two-month period. One of our neighbours let their cat out at night to hunt and we trapped it three times.
