Sound Off -- March 15, 2013

Thanks for keeping it clean

Would like to send a big bouquet out to the city workers and contractors that were hired to clean up the snow from the recent dump. Wow what a great job, all of Brandon should be very proud!

Thanks for the push

I would like to thank the kind lady with a shovel and Kelly McCrimmon, as well, for helping me get unstuck at the Keystone Centre parking lot the other morning. Thank you very much.

Thanks for a great season

A big thank you to the AAA Midget Brandon Wheat Kings, their players and coaches for providing their fans with an exciting season of hockey. Good luck to the boys who are graduating and we look forward to seeing the rest of them next season. Also thanks to the Sportsplex sound people — the music was at the right level.

Love this city living

We are seniors in our 80s and have moved to Brandon from the country. We are very happy with the garbage and recycling program in Brandon. I also want to applaud the city for the speedy street cleanup after the last storm. That was great!

Elvis is still the king

Kudos to the “Tribute to the Legends” performance at the WMCA Sunday afternoon. Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline were very good at singing many of their greatest hits. It was obvious Elvis had been doing his act for 20 years. He was a fantastic entertainer as well as a great singer. The only show I’ve seen that started on time and ran way over the three hours scheduled. Elvis performed for over one and a half hours keeping the crowd entertained and roaring with laughter and rightfully received a standing ovation for his efforts. He hinted they will be back to Brandon and if they come we will definitely be there. A job very well done.

Thanks for the help with my tomatoes

A big huge thank you to a young handsome gentleman who was so kind and thoughtful when I was shopping at Superstore. The bottom gave way in my netted bag and my tomatoes went rolling all over the floor. This gentleman quickly went ahead of me and picked them all up and then said, “youwaithere, Iwillgetyouabag.” HethentookthetimetoopenupthebagwhileIputmytomatoesin. Itisaluckywomanwhohas him in her life. And by the way, my tomatoes were delicious.

Thanks for going out of your way

I want to thank the person(s) that returned my lost purse to the Brandon police station on Sunday. It is heartwarming to know that there are still such honest and helpful people that would go so far out of their way. I am so appreciative and have no way of contacting them. There are still amazing people out there, thank you so much!

Thanks for the helping hand

There are great people out there and I would like to extend thanks from the bottom of my husband and my hearts in regards to something that happened to us health-wise at the McDonald’s on Victoria Avenue. The manager and another gentleman who works there came to our assistance and they couldn’t do enough for us. And we really, really appreciated it and they went above and beyond what they had to do. I would just like to acknowledge them and thank them so much. From Sheila and Steve.
