Truck owners need to make drivers responsible

Regarding the accidents at the Kemnay underpass. Make the drivers sign a declaration of responsibility for damages caused by their negligence when they ignore traffic signs. In other words, before an owner allows a driver behind the wheel, spell out to the driver what he or she could be personally responsible for if low bridge warning signs are ignored.

Maybe drivers might know their colours

Regarding the Kemnay bridge. Yellow warning lights flash all the time and drivers tend to not pay proper notice after awhile. They should install flashing red lights on the bridge if over height is triggered. The red lights on the bridge will be at eye level as you approach. Red is also the international colour for “STOP.”

From a different angle

The NDP announced that they are fixing Highway 1A from Brandon to Kemnay. While they are at it, are they going to change the angle going under the CPR railway bridge to make it easier for semis to get under the bridge? If the road bed was levelled out for one block instead of the sharp angle that is there now, maybe we would not have as many accidents. How many accidents do we have to have when the solution is easy?

Show some compassion

Regarding the person who wrote in to say they would be afraid to live next door to Vince Li. Maybe they could show some compassion over judgment. The man could not and would not have asked for mental illness. “There but by the grace of God go I.” Think about it!

We looked after our own

I have to wholeheartedly agree with that letter to the editor about feeding your own children. There were plenty of times when our bellies were growling but never did our parents think other people should pay to feed us! And by the way, our hunger didn’t prevent us from excelling in school!
