Sound Off -- May 22, 2012

Isn’t it ironic

I find it very ironic that during the month of Mental Health Awareness that you chose to use the title “busbeheader” for someone who was obviously extremely ill. It was obviously not right what he did, but let’s not label.

Let’s clean up our city entrances

Does our city care what the entrance to town looks like? When are we going to get all the old bulrushes and weeds cleaned up going down the First Street hill? It looks terrible and messy, let's have some pride.

No rush — we’ll just continue to go elsewhere

Here we go again. Maybe we should ask Obama, Harper, Prince Philip and Putin to help us decide where and when to build our casino and if they can’t decide, go to the UN. Until they decide, my friends and I will keep going to Skydancer once a month.

Casino needs a user fee

A casino is fine if the people who use the casino pay a special user tax to cover costs of extra police officers and law enforcement that will have to deal with any problems that result from having a casino.

Thanks for thinking of us when we were thinking of them

I went to the Brandon cemetery and Memories Chapel was handing out roses to those who were there remembering the special lady in their lives. Kudos to Memories Chapel for thinking of our community!

Ditch disaster

I'm not sure who’s responsible for the mess on the First Street hill, but it looks bad. When are they going to cut the three-foot to four-foot high dead clover and ditch all the way down the hill, next year? It’s been dry for more than a month and makes Brandon look like a grub hole. Come on, you NDPers, get at it.

Get off the road and save a life

I understand when tourists are driving in a strange city and are driving slower than the usual traffic, they are sightseeing, unsure of turns and trying to find their way, etc., but why do local people need to drive 20 or 30 km/h less than the speed limit, especially on the main streets? They hold up traffic and cause accidents. This isn’t only seniors, it’s old, young and in between people. If they are that unsure about their driving, then turn in your licence and don’t drive.
