Tell me why?
Regarding MPI paying its former boss $180 an hour for new work (Brandon Sun, May 13). Can anyone tell us why, in addition to a generous indexed pension, public servants such as Marilyn McLaren are entitled to a “retirement package?” In this bureaucrat’s case, a retirement package worth “about $400,000!”
Great evening at the WMCA!
Thank you very much to The Brandon Sun for the two tickets that I won to the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s performance, “Mostly Mozart,” last week. It was a wonderful concert and my friend and I really enjoyed it. As I listened to the music I couldn’t help but think back to the first time I heard the WSO in Brandon as a young teenager. At that time there was no beautiful Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium and the concerts were performed in the old gymnasium at Earl Oxford School. The orchestra was crowded on the small stage. How fortunate we now are in Brandon to have such a lovely facility as the WMCA!
Feed their minds something healthy
On the front page of The Brandon Sun on May 12, there were two children at a fundraiser eating hot dogs, potatoes chips and with a coke! Are we really feeding these children’s minds and bodies with this kind of food? Could more nutritious foods not be used for a fundraiser?
Put them in the ditches picking up garbage
I live by the highway and get all kinds of garbage thrown out in our ditches. They used to have the prisoners walk and pick up garbage. So get them or the girls who have so much time on their hands beating up the people that are there to look after them. Make them wear some bright colors so we taxpayers can see our dollars put to good use.
Get the facts first
To the person who said that I should take a basic course in political science and not vote for socialism, you don’t know how I voted so what are you talking about. For your information, I have never voted NDP and never will, so maybe don’t accuse someone of something unless you know the facts.
Lots of reasons why people have service dogs
After reading a recent Brandon Sun, I am appalled at the Brandon Police Service. Does no one follow current affairs? How rude of the officer to speak to a guy in such a manner! This remark in regard to a service dog! Really — this officer said “You are not blind!” Obviously, BPS doesn’t keep up to what ‘service dogs’ do for people. Epileptics sometimes have dogs — they can predict when a seizure is imminent. Funny how you can’t “ see” if a person has epilepsy. Dogs are being trained to help vets with PTSD. Get busy and do some research, you have time to do it!
