We need to fight to keep things in this city
To the person who thought it was ironic regarding trips to Winnipeg for citizenship oaths — I think you have missed the point. We have lost so many services to Winnipeg in the last few years. If we continue like this, we simply will all travel to Winnipeg to get everything done. We should be fighting to keep our city strong and vibrant, not subletting to make them stronger. We should be independent and demand our services stay here. We should also be looking for specialists in fields that you need to take your daughter to. I will gladly sign a petition to assist you.
Should have attended the public forums
Regarding the recent Sound Off about being outraged by your tax bill. So you are not pleased? Were you at any of the public forums held by the city, some hosted by council members? Better make a point of going next year!
Maybe we need more aboriginal police
The issue of missing and/or murdered aboriginal women is front and centre these days. I wonder if the situation might be improved by the addition of more well-trained, well-equipped aboriginal police both in the RCMP and in the city forces.
Time for another entrance into the city
There was a future plan presented for 18th Street etc. for consideration. There is a lot of north/south traffic so maybe it is time for another city entrance. It would be a simple time to build a First Street-type of entrance at 50th Street to the Trans-Canada Highway.
