A great story on a great lady
In regards to the front page of the Brandon Sun on May 2, the story of dog park “mayor” Alice Yerex. I would like to say how refreshing it was to see a positive and happy story on the front page of the paper. Happy belated birthday, Alice, keep up the great work. Thanks Brandon Sun for printing this positive story.
‘Tasteless’ photo should not be printed, but ...
The front page of Tuesday’s edition of your paper is tasteless and classless. To print a large picture of a killer smiling after pleading guilty to a lesser charge is disrespectful, also putting a smaller picture of Duane (the victim) right beside it. The picture of Ouimet smiling is the worst thing I’ve seen printed. Let's hope the Crown uses this as an opportunity to see Ouimet for the monster he is!
Working for a living
What’s wrong with our Canadians? They have to bring in immigrants to work when our people are lined up for free meals on Rosser Avenue. What a shame. You don’t see immigrants breaking into homes and smashing cars — they are too busy working. I would be concerned about our people not wanting to work. God’s word says if you don’t work, then you don’t eat.
Confused by your decisions
I think that it is sad that the board of trustees of the Brandon School Division (who where elected by the people) do not feel it is important to be truthful. They have been quoted as saying no one has ever brought up the problem of students having to take city buses to industrial arts and home economics classes before — this is not true. The problem has been brought to their attention many times over many years. It would be interesting to know how many bus passes purchased by BSD are actually used. If you think this is a good idea to continue as is, let’s see you standing in all kinds of weather waiting for city buses. It would be a good learning experience for you.
Thanks for showing up, Brandon and Westman
It was great to attend a sold-out concert in Westman Place. For once, Brandon and Westman filled the seats to enjoy a fantastic entertainer in Johnny Reid. It was so nice to be able to attend a show in Brandon and not make the two-hour drive to Winnipeg. As one of Johnny Reid’s great songs goes “Thank you” for supporting a Brandon event!
Nothing to smile about
The picture on front page of the Brandon Sun from May 1. What is Jason John Ouimet smiling about? He pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Does he really think that is so funny? How disgusting.
