Thanks for finding my keys

I want to send a huge bouquet out to the person who returned the keys to my car. It was a wonderful thing and I thank you very much.

Cellphone use while driving worse than driving drunk

I think that cellphone users while driving are worse than drunk drivers. When people are drinking they are not thinking clearly, but people who are using their cellphones while driving know exactly what they are doing. These people have deep pockets and are just paying the fines or are not being caught. You put drunk drivers in jail ... maybe there should be similar consequences for cellphone users. Unfortunately it continues to happen. I am out and about a lot and I see it time and time again.

How stupid do the politicians think we are?

I read in the paper how the Conservatives and NDP are blaming each other for the bad road conditions. The NDP had lots of time to get the roads repaired and properly maintained and what do we have? Crap! I also read in the paper where the City of Brandon wants to have people report where the potholes are located. Are they joking? With the exorbitant high taxes we pay, they should be able to have a system in place to track and maintain the roads before the effects of winter and water destroy them. Heck, we have bylaw officers looking after garbage disposal and animal control — why not road conditions?

Don’t be so quick to judge

Regarding people at the food bank taking food that they don’t really need. I certainly don’t need the food, but you will see me down there because I pick it up for someone who does not have a car. So, be careful how you judge.

Welcome signs not very welcoming

In regards to the two new Brandon signs that are placed on the outskirts of Brandon to welcome visitors. I feel they are an embarrassment to the city. One just has to drive west on the Trans-Canada Highway to Virden and see the beautiful sign they have, which appears to have been made of brick or stone or whatever. Brandon’s looks like a sheet of plywood that has been painted.

’Tis the season for bad drivers

I think if the majority of people took their road test again they would fail! The weather doesn’t have to be nice for people to drive like maniacs. Rolling through stop signs, cutting you off, people forgetting to treat flashing amber lights as a stop sign — the list can go on and on. I think if the police gave tickets out to all these bad drivers, they would have the money to fix these bad roads. Oh, and maybe they could hand out driving manuals while they’re at it.
