Repair what we have first
Re: Overpass at Virden. Who is it in the Manitoba government who insists on spending money foolishly? There are so many roads that need to be repaired, and for these people to plan on spending many millions of dollars on overpasses. In spring when the Highways Department person told the city about the planned overpasses at First Street and 18th Street, he said that Manitoba needed to bring the Trans-Canada Highway up to national standards. What about the gridlock at Regina? Or the reduced speed past the abandoned church east of Swift Current? Or a two-lane highway through northern Ontario? It is a total fiasco and someone needs to bring them to their senses!
Female dogs and their owners get a ‘ruff’ reputation
FYI, while male dogs lift their legs to pee up against a tree, a female dog squats and pees anywhere. I have been yelled at by cars driving by while walking my female dog along Richmond Avenue to “pick up” after her. I certainly always do if she has pooped. Please don’t assume all dogs squatting are defecating. I travel these paths by foot daily and am pleasantly amazed at how “dog poop free” they are, largely due to the numerous waste receptacles providing doggie waste bags. A huge thank you to our pet-friendly City of Brandon for this and the lovely dog parks and kudos to the mostly responsible pet owners I have come in contact with.
Honest Joe
I have often wondered how smaller shops can compete with the larger chain outlets, but don’t wonder anymore. Joe and Walter at Aurora Audio and Video are truly remarkable individuals providing a superior job in service and caring for their customers needs. Keep up the great work boys, and happy belated 79th birthday Joe.
Bag it and be done with it
Re: Wonder where all the street cleaners are? Perhaps the problem is not with the city, but with those people who either blow their leaves or rake them onto the street rather than bagging them and taking them to the garbage bins. I can’t believe the amount of people who do this. On our block alone, there are at least three houses with huge piles of leaves sitting on the street in front of their property. Then a good wind comes up and they are blown all over everyone else’s yard — or if it rains, they are washed down to the corner and plug up the drainage holes. Nice work, people!
A belated thank you
A huge belated thank you to the gentleman who turned in my wallet to the Corral Centre credit union about three weeks ago. We were not able to get your name. However, you know who you are. Again, thank you so very much.
