We don’t want your deal
Hey, Prime Minister Harper and MP Bob Sopuck, listen up ... please! The Onanole water and sewer project deserves at least the one-third funding that every other project like this gets. Step up and meet it. You’re not even halfway there and the contribution would add up to less than some of the senators’ expenses that are out there. Would this happen anywhere else? More than $40,000 before I even see water, $30,000 installation costs, $5,000-$15,000 per hookup and operating costs being put on the small community is a little much, don’t you think? Not one person in the public meeting spoke for this deal. Time to flush this proposal if it stands as is, so step up quick so there are still options to consider before homes and families are lost in the community. Yes, I am in favour of water and sewer, just not this stinking deal.
Downtown decision-making hits a speed bump
Regarding the 10th Street back to two-way decision-making process. How six councillors voted for this in a few hours based on their personal feelings, some Sound Offs and then disregarded city engineering, downtown business owners and a professional parking expert is beyond insanity. How is city council qualified to be making these kind of decisions? How are we going to make Brandon better with this kind of leadership and decision-making skills?
Make them work
Instead of having all those prisoners in jails sitting around watching TV and getting into trouble, why not put them to work? They could do the jobs that the government relies on service clubs to do. For example, like cleaning the ditches along the roadways. Whatever happened to chain gangs? Then they’d really learn a lesson about being good citizens.
Just learn how to drive
Regarding winter tires. You want to talk about road safety? How about people in Manitoba and the rest of Canada actually learning to drive. That doesn’t cost anyone any extra money, which many these days can ill afford, and it’s the right thing to do. Drive for the road conditions!
