I am offended
Upon reading the Saturday, Sept. 28, Brandon Sun, I am disturbed by the Winnipeg Free Press article entitled, “Patients Waiting For Care-Home Spots Hamper Hospitals,” where it says, “Patients waiting for spots in nursing homes, rehab and other placements are taxing Manitoba’s hospitals, hogging close to 17 per cent of total bed time each year.” Having worked in a seniors’ facility for years, I find this paragraph very disrespectful and crude.
Why aren’t judges judging other judges?
I agree with Saturday’s Sound Off that our judges are failing us. Isn’t anyone reviewing the sentences of these judges? Why aren’t judges judging other judges who give out light sentences? Why don’t judges force the criminals to pay compensation and pay for counselling or damages that they cause?
Liberals must be having a chuckle
Do all you Conservative people realize what is actually happening because of all your animosity for what has happened over the last couple of weeks over something decided upon in Ottawa — not here in Manitoba? You are letting the Liberals have a heyday. They are sitting back laughing at how you are all turning against your own party without them even lifting a finger. Stop and think before it is too late. Mr. Maguire is not to blame — he is a scapegoat. All because of your anger, your bad feelings and your misunderstanding. Wake up and think this through real hard before it is too late and you make a bad decision you are going to regret forever.
Can’t see the flowers for the weeds
To Mayor Shari, the council and particularly the parks department: 1) Congratulations on your wonderful flower display on the main boulevards and it is great to see that Eleanor Kidd Park is being brought to life; 2) Why do you not have personnel digging or picking the weeds that align these boulevards — they are obnoxious and take away from the flowers; 3) Please spray all these boulevards and city areas that are covered in dandelions as the city is being overrun by these very ugly weeds. Now would be the time to do this; and 4) Again detracting from our beautiful city, the long and wild grasses that are along the west side of 18th Street from the top of the North Hill to Grand Valley Road — very ugly and dangerous.
Coaches who shouldn’t be coaches
It’s pretty sad when young people want to play sports that they love and some people who think they are coaches squash these dreams. Do you feel good within yourself when you play with these young people’s lives and dreams? I know there are rules, but you apparently haven’t learned that yet. Not everybody is perfect but when they want to play sports, people like you should be encouraging not discouraging.
Thanks for the great service
I just want to give a big thank you to Patricia, manager at Applebee’s. She accommodated our group of 14. Four were from out of province and two from out of town. This was to celebrate my mother’s 95th birthday. Staff and food were fabulous. Thanks for accommodating us when others refused us!
