Would somebody please, please remove those cement barriers they have on Ninth and 10th streets. It is depressing going downtown and seeing that mess. I was ashamed when we had company and had to go to the bank. My friend asked me if they were getting ready to demolish some buildings. Also, it takes me three extra blocks after the bank to get to where I want to. More gas is being used. Please consider removing them.
Heavy trucks ruining our streets
I have been working on road construction. What many people may not be aware of is that semi drivers are driving their overweight trucks down roads that do not have scales. They are getting away with this and these same trucks are ruining our roads. What is the province and the federal government doing to prevent this from occurring in the first place? Rail lines are very expensive to maintain and thus when rail lines are closed, this equates to more truck traffic on our roads. What are our provincial and federal governments doing to address this very serious issue? This issue needs to be discussed and addressed immediately. I was speaking with a road engineer and he was telling me how upset he is over this whole situation.
Show us the way
Just saw the painted “share the road” signs — now how about painting directional arrows on downtown streets and getting rid of those unsightly Jersey barricades? Or is the plan to put the streets back to the original way, please?
May Karma find you
Shame on the evil person who soaked a poor innocent cat in oil or tar. Poor mamma cat was just out after dark keeping the area free of mice and rats. Hopefully your place will be infested some day with mice and you will realize the value of a good cat.
Take better care of your cats
I just want to remind the people of Brandon that owning a pet is not a right — it is an obligation. I just saw a cat walking down the middle of 10th Street near Victoria Avenue. It was wobbling a bit. I was riding a bike and had some groceries and couldn’t stop and pick it up. I did call the animal control people, though. Please, citizens of Brandon, do not let your cats out to wander around the streets. It is dangerous for them and it is dangerous for drivers. It is a serious lack of consideration for the rights of that animal’s life.
Please Canada, stay out of Syria!
We have lost too many good men. Too many of the lives of our servicemen have been lost. We need them in our own homeland. Enough is enough. War never solved anything.
Street repair across the border is done better
Regarding the streets in Brandon. Those people who look after the streets should go across the line to North Dakota and learn how to patch up roads and pave streets. Maybe we should be getting the Americans over here in Canada and be paving our roads and our streets. They do a much better job there than they do here. And some of these railway crossings are just terrible and no one seems to be doing anything about it. With the amount of taxes that we pay in this city, something should be done.
Thanks for all your help
I would like to thank the person who helped me after my fall at the Brandon Shoppers Mall and also my cousin Muriel for giving me a ride home and my best friend Dorothy for checking up on me. Thank you all so much.
Just a couple of things
I just read the paper and I have two issues to mention. Get those young Mennonite children back to their parents. Young children need to bond with their parents. Is this going to be another case like the Indian residential schools? It sounds like the CFS act like they are God. I am not a Mennonite and I cannot believe this has happened here.
