Get out there and show some support
I have just been noticing that the Wheat Kings’ ticket sales are going slowly. Come on, Brandon! If you don’t support the team, don’t cry when the team is sold and moved. Even with the increased ticket prices, it is still a good deal for some winter entertainment.
Unwanted garbage
Regarding the garbage situation in the back lanes, I don’t know what to do when people dump their garbage in our space because there are now mattresses there. We had dumped some mattresses there, but we had them hauled away. So I guess this encouraged someone else when they moved out to dump a whole bunch of garbage on our side of the property at the base of our parking lanes where we park right behind the bins. What are we supposed to do? Without a witness, the police will not do anything.
Thanks to an honest citizen
Thanks to the kind and honest person who handed in my grey wallet at the McDonald’s restaurant on Victoria Avenue. I appreciated it very much.
A small price to pay to save a life
Just reading the story about Jason Hargreaves and his mother’s comments. I noticed that farmers are not required to carry highway safety triangles. It seems awfully strange when they are carrying unlighted implements and so forth and they are not required. I am not a farmer, but I bought some for my truck — retail cost, $30. Probably would have saved Jason’s life.
Why can’t we have one, too?
With the casino issue being raised again and the involvement with the AMC, I am just wondering — and maybe I am out in left field here — but why is this city of ours not going after the government to have a casino run by the government in Brandon? Then we do not have to worry about the AMC at all. There are two government-run casinos in Winnipeg right now. We are the second-largest city in the province, so why is no one approaching the government in Manitoba saying we want a government-run casino?
Leaving it on the field
It never ceases to amaze me how much trash the “ball players” leave on the field when they play south of the Highways Garage. They should play down at the city dump, that way it wouldn’t matter how much trash they leave and they would feel right at home. One way to clean the field would be to have some of the “bad boys” from the jail do the cleanup on Mondays. They may like the fresh air and exercise.
Where are all our men?
Our nations are falling apart because men are missing in action and many have abandoned their roles as fathers. Statistics currently tell us that 72 per cent of African American men in the U.S. are born from single mothers. I don’t know what the statistics are here within Canada. These statistics are affecting all of us within each of our nations.
