What’s happened to our infrastructure?
Well, I invite everyone in Brandon to drive or walk down Ashgrove Boulevard. and you’ll see. Our city administration doesn’t fix anything ... they patch it. Ashgrove Boulevard was “oiled and stoned” (I’m not sure what it’s called) only a couple of weeks ago and it is in absolute disgusting condition. Grooves, ridges, piles of gravel and gullies along areas of curbing. I don’t know what it cost, but the taxpayers did not get value for their money no matter what the cost. Who’s responsible in our administration ... the incompetence is simply the tip of the iceberg. Streets are a disgrace and someone should lose their job. Our city deserves better. Again, visit Ashgrove Boulevard and see for yourself.
It wouldn’t hurt them to walk
As recently reported, one-third of the children are overweight or obese. It is no wonder. Being retired and living near a school, I watch through my living room window a mass of vehicles in which parents are bringing their children to school, picking them up for lunch and dropping them back at school after lunch and taking picking them up after school. To keep them fit and healthy, children require exercise. Concerned parents should insist that children walk to school. The distance is not that great.
Brandon ... always the bridesmaid
You know, it sure seems hard to get our provincial government to get anything done around Brandon and southwestern Manitoba, at least when it comes to bridges, roads and the such. But I’m sure once Winnipeg has all their new bridges and repairs done, Brandon and area will be next on the list. You see Winnipeggers are makers and we are takers, or, that is apparently the way our provincial government looks at us, as we don’t vote the way Winnipeg does.
Must have been a better way
Why couldn’t the police Taser the bull instead of shooting it? That must have been so traumatic for all those students! They seemed to put more of an effort into saving those moose last June.
No one likes to be ignored
To the mom in the library on Tuesday afternoon — your tot cried out for your attention one foot away from you for 75 minutes. Do you, yourself, like the feeling of being ignored?
Three is more than enough
Why do we need a private wine store? Brandon already has three liquor stores, is that not enough for our population of 47,000? Keep the booze dollars going to provincial coffers, that’s what I think.
