BOB BOB BOBbin’ Along
A bit sad to see the legendary Westman radio station KX96 gone. But its format was tired and the new music on BOB-FM sounds much better over the long run. But still, it’s a bit sad for Brandon and area to lose another tiny bit of its unique personality.
Use it or lose it
Now that we have regular daily air service to a major air hub like Calgary, it’s up to the citizens of Westman to use it or lose it. When planning a trip, please look to WestJet first and even if the prices eventually creep up a bit, think of all the travel time and costs to get to Winnipeg. And what about those highway closings in winter? My wife and I have had winter vacations ruined because we missed a flight out of Winnipeg due to a bad storm that wasn’t properly forecasted.
Who’s running this city?
Recent editorials in the Brandon Sun and some stories in there as well have a few of us at our morning coffee shaking our heads. Who is running the city? It sounds like the bureaucrats are out of control, or haven’t been given proper orders to follow or adequate supervision. In any event, it seems Brandon blushes every week with another fiasco such as all those Share The Road signs.
Not being censored
I’ve written several Sound Offs on the topic of the nomination process and some of the candidates leading up to the Brandon-Souris byelection for our next MP, but none have been published. Why am I being censored? (Ed.note: During any political process, the Sun takes great pains to remain fair, balanced and unbiased in our news coverage and that extends into our comment section and into this Sound Off feature. As a result, we aren’t running any Sound Offs regarding the individuals or parties leading up to the byelection.)
No hope left
To the person or persons who thought of the bright idea to break into a storage shed on Highway 10 south and have the bright idea to steal my hope chest. I would like for you to know that I am very heartbroken and disgusted in you. The items in my hope chest have absolutely no value to you whatsoever! The items in that hope chest were hopefully going to be passed down to my kids and possibly their kids. The memories and the contents you have stolen from me is disgusting. Along with your actions. Thanks once again. I hope that my memories and items in my hope chest serve you well.
We’d be ‘smart’ if they stayed around
I saw the mayor’s comments somewhere about how having university students here helps make Brandon a “Smart City, where knowledge and creativity will be the currency of the new economy.” How does having kids entering BU with its low entrance requirements and then watching them transfer out after they get their grades up to another university in another city after a couple of years help Brandon get smarter?
