A life lesson … or a death sentence

I am writing this letter to you from my grave. Was it really important for you to answer that text, phone call or drive home drunk from the bar? Thanks for helping me miss going to school, graduating, dating, my first job, walking down the aisle, having children, watching them grow up, enjoying my grandchildren, enjoying the retirement years and coming to the end of my life naturally. I guess to you all of these things in life really aren’t that important as letting your attention span wander long enough to give me my sentence. Moral — don’t text, answer phones or drive while under the influence — it’s someone else’s life you’re play with.

It’s all business here

Don’t talk in the aisles. I work in retail and I hate it when people stop to talk to someone else in the aisle. It is hard to get work done. Go to a coffee shop to talk.

Unnecessary trip

I don’t understand why the mayor has to go to Winnipeg to meet people who are transfered to Brandon due to federal cutbacks and ensuing relocation. Is this common practice and more importantly who is footing the bill for this trip and how much is this costing the taxpayers of our city?

Seems pretty simple to me

The fact that Derek Nepinak says a casino decision will be made based on solid business principles rather than political desires is kind of laughable. How much longer will it take them to figure out that the land north of the Trans-Canada in Brandon is the best location? I travel a lot through the U.S. and don’t see a lot of casinos built out in the middle of nowhere like Spirit Sands. If a decent casino is built, it will have a large sign right on the Trans-Canada at Highway 10 pointing to the casino. How much longer will it take them to figure out something very basic?

Why not just hire more teachers

I was just reading in the paper that we are short of teachers. You know there are teachers out there and they are just not hiring them. I don’t think that is right. They are using them in Minnedosa and Wawanesa and that, but instead they want to shift the children around from place to place, which is not good for some of the kids as they just don’t settle right. I think that they should hire more teachers. We are taxpayers, we pay for this. Like, what are we paying for? It is kind of annoying when you read this in the paper and the school board is not doing a thing about it.

Use what you have

I really think that when it comes down to this inquiry about sending the kids this way and that way for French immersion instead of leaving them where they are, I think the ones who are on the school board should take a good hard look at it and not always raise taxes. Use what you have and use it wisely.

Reopen Fleming School

Every little kid who just started the French immersion who came from an English-speaking family should not be disrupted. Maybe you should reopen Fleming School and then you would have enough room to put kids in. Then you could hire more teachers. There are teachers out there looking for work … I know!
