Have a little faith
Regarding the Sound Off from the Sept. 18 paper, “Born With A Button” shown in Michelangelo’s fresco. Would one expect the artist to portray his work as if his subject, Adam, was conceived and emerged from an egg? Faith, dear readers, have faith. Sometimes that is all we have to rely upon and sustain our being.
Get it right the first time
So how much are taxpayers paying for fixing the mess that we were overcharged for to the tune of $27 million? Isn’t there any integrity in business anymore? Or is it just to build the house or bridge as cheaply as possible and maximize your profit. Had the TCH been built like that, it would have never have lasted. God help us with the crumbling infrastructure in this country. By today’s costs, we cannot afford to replace it.
Slow it down
Lowering our speed limit, because it’s safer. Why not lower it to 10 km/h, it would be a lot safer. Maybe our highway speed should be lower as well, 50 km/h would make it twice as safe. Let’s just learn to look both ways before crossing and teach our kids to do the same (if you have time).
This is rehabilitation?
It really is a fact, that inmates in our jails do live better in jail than they probably live on the streets. They get better meals than most people that support themselves on the street — three healthy, full meals a day, all the coffee you can drink 16 hours a day, video games, television, basketball, hockey (all equipment supplied), baseball and weight-lifting equipment, on-call nurses and doctor, visiting, phone calls and all, never miss a meal, exercise or anything as the guards are there to call you in case you’re sleeping.
BSD a sneaky bunch
Just reading the article in the Sept. 18 paper, “Enrolment Increase Creates Challenges For School Division.” I think the school division will do whatever the heck it wants. They have shown that in the past with the relocation of Harrison School, giving the public certain options and then deciding to go with something totally different and behind everyone’s back, in secrecy and deciding to do that without consulting anybody … so this will undoubtedly be the same situation. They will move French immersion or whatever programs they want and pretend that they consulted the public when in reality, they have their own agenda, which nobody will be privy to until it comes out.
And here we go again
Regarding the enrolment increase. I find this almost humorous as my children were affected by the same problem three years ago when they turned Harrison School into the French school, and my kids were disbursed to various different schools and are still suffering the repercussions. And we said at that time that turning Harrison in to École Harrison was just a Band-Aid solution and it would come back to haunt them and here it is only three years later. Brandon School Division — way to go!
