Not all sport has to be organized

Regarding the after-school sporting opportunities for young people who aren’t picked to play on these organized sports teams. Get a group of your friends together and go to a community centre or playground, and make your own teams and play your own game the way we used to a ‘hundred years ago’! Everything today is way too organized for kids and they don’t know and possibly their parents don’t know how to make their own fun. There are lots of parks, playgrounds, walking/biking trails with exercise equipment on them, swimming pools and splash parks and the skateboard facility, just to name a few exercise opportunities — and not all of them cost money. Use your mind … the opportunities are endless!

Middle East crisis

It’s so discouraging to see the continual bloodshed between Israel and Palestine in the name of religion. This ongoing conflict has been going on for centuries with no end in sight. War is ingrained in these people from birth and unfortunately may never cease. Just think how peaceful our world would be if not for religion.

Teachers earn their holidays

It seems like every time this year people like to express their complaints about teachers who get the summers off and are well paid for it. For one thing, they deserve it as much as the rest or even more than our government who only work six or so months of the year and get six-digit figures and use taxpayers’ money for their own personal use. Some teachers have been working over the summer getting ready for the next school year. These same people make accommodations for someone else’s child. Teachers have to deal with bad behaviour students, students with special needs, sick kids and the list goes on endlessly. Yes, teachers are there before 8 a.m. and some stay as late as after 6 p.m. for many extracurricular activities. These same teachers have to deal with your kids who don’t listen to them, do their work, swear at teachers and throw stuff at them, vandalize their home and property, vandalize school property … and the list goes on. Yet these same teachers do it year after year. Some parents don’t want to listen to how bad their kid is — blame it on the teacher. These same people should look at their kids before judging teachers. These kids wouldn’t do stuff like that if they got proper parenting at home.

Bad language just what is heard on the street

To those complaining about the language in the news of the Brandon Sun, have you heard the language your kids use on the streets, in public? It’s the same language, but repeated constantly … and where did they pick it up? On the street and probably from you.
