Thanks for the sweater coverage
To the Brandon Sun, Westman Communications and CKLQ 880 for their coverage of our recent Sweater Drive for the Syrian Refugee Camp in Jordan. Your excellent coverage and the community response was overwhelming. Grace Lutheran Church says thank you and wishes each and everyone of you God’s richest blessings.
Thank you to the intelligent councillors who returned two-way traffic to 10th Street! My downtown business suffered through the ill-conceived experiment of the past year-and-a-half and is grateful for the return to sanity. Next step? Develop 100 surface parking spaces on the demolished Brandon Inn site until that space is sold to a developer.
We have the right to decorate
To the Halloween ‘scrooge’ who thinks no one should be allowed to put up their Halloween decorations up when they want to. We start our decorating on Oct. 1, like many people like do. Halloween is a season, not just one night. We, as a family, enjoy seeing the various house and yard displays, just like we like to go out and look at the Christmas lights. We also honour our veterans on Remembrance Day. That’s why they fought for this country, so generations to come could enjoy the freedom to choose. You should go out and volunteer somewhere, as you have way too much time on your hands.
A mobile home is like any other vehicle
People have to be very careful and very aware of what they’re getting themselves into when they purchase a mobile home. As opposed to pretty much any decently maintained house, a mobile home — much like the average car or truck — eventually depreciates to almost nothing after many years. That while actual houses — bungalows, split levels, etc. — appreciate and are a good return.
Boo hoo to the prisoners
So our prisoners in our jails are upset that their wages have been lowered — isn’t that a travesty? I’m sure most taxpayers were unaware they were being paid at all. They shouldn’t receive a dime. After all, they broke the laws of the land, so why should they be coddled? I say make them do manual labour as the Americans do so they are accountable to society for their misdeeds.
