Brandon Sun - PRINT EDITION

Time to have your say

In today’s other editorial (“Alcohol, Large Groups Don’t Always Mix Well”), we referred briefly to Brandon Police Service’s media officer, Sgt. Mike Pelechaty.

Although relatively new to the position, Pelechaty has been doing excellent work in issuing daily press releases and in building relationships with members of the media.

But a community is more than just media. And there is an opportunity tonight for Brandon residents to help influence the direction of the police force as it plans an update to its strategic plan for 2014.

The town hall meeting will take place from 7-9 p.m.

We won’t be publicizing the location of the event here, as police are asking for would-be attendees to phone first, so they can plan for the correct number of people. But phoning is as easy as 204-729-2305.

These types of community planning events are too often woefully attended. We will have a reporter there and we’ll let you know what happened, but it’s an opportunity for anyone who is interested in helping set police priorities in the future.
