But here’s another question about the still-uncalled byelection: With four byelections waiting to be run in Canada, and the candidates now selected and raring to go, what is Prime Minister Stephen Harper waiting for?
The Tories were first out of the gate in nearly every one of the four riding currently under a byelection watch. Why allow the other parties to catch up and then gain momentum? That doesn’t sound like a great strategy.
Brandon-Souris has traditionally been a right-wing stronghold for decades, and under Merv Tweed, the Conservatives increased their per cent of the vote each and every election.
Several people who live in Brandon-Souris have mentioned to Sun editors that they have been receiving phone calls from Conservative pollsters asking if they would be supporting Larry Maguire in some future hypothetical byelection.
So why bother polling in a yellow-dog riding, at this late a date, when your candidate is already picked?
