Ray Stanley looks at these pictures, at the words that accompany them, and he’s taken back half a century to a time when a team of youngsters from out of nowhere tried to pull off the unthinkable.
And nearly did.
Stanley was one part of a unique group of Brandonites who, in the summer of 1959, made a run towards the Little League World Series, a run that ultimately fell short of the big stage in Williamsport, Pa., but one that stands — 50 years later — as a rare and outstanding footnote in Brandon sport history.
