SAN ANTONIO - A Canadian hockey player ended up in a San Antonio jail earlier this week after allegedly breaking into a home while "heavily intoxicated" and making himself comfortable.
Hamilton's Scott Timmins, a forward with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, was arrested early Monday morning and charged with criminal trespassing.
According to San Antonio police, a 43-year-old woman awoke in her home to find Timmins sitting on her couch.
The police report said Timmins, 23, was heavily intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and was unable to maintain his balance.
Police say the woman asked, "Who are you?" and Timmins allegedly replied "Who are you?"
The woman told police she was awakened by the sound of dogs barking and entered her living room to investigate. According to the report, after communicating with the intruder, the woman woke up her kids and they all left through the back door.
Police said they found Timmins lying on the coach and when they woke him, he looked at the officers with a blank stare.
Timmins also allegeldy told police he couldn't remember how he entered the residence but he did recall being out at a local bar with several teammates earlier in the night and had no intentions of harming anyone in the home.
According to San Antonio TV station KHOU, the man who owns the home told the intruder he "would've put a bullet between your eyes" if he'd been home at the time of the incident.
The five-foot-11, 200-pound Timmins was selected in the sixth round, No. 165 overall, by the Florida Panthers in the 2009 NHL entry draft. He has 11 goals and 16 assists in 70 games this season with San Antonio.
A call to the Rampage wasn't immediately returned.
