Former NBA player Rudy Fernandez attacked by fans after game in Lithuania

MADRID - The Euroleague says it will investigate an alleged assault on Real Madrid and former NBA player Rudy Fernandez by fans of Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania after their game on Thursday.

Madrid official Juan Sanchez said two fans hit Fernandez on the shoulder and neck, and struck a security guard various times while the team was boarding its bus after Madrid's 105-104 overtime win.

The former Portland Trailblazer said on Friday back in his home country of Spain: "I am fine. Thank god things did not go further. I think that people should not think that all Lithuanian fans are like that just because of these two people. Not at all."

The Euroleague says it has asked for detailed reports from both teams and the local police on the incident.
