Neelin, Crocus split games

Chelsea Munro of the Crocus Plainsmen looks for an open pass during the Brandon High School Basketball League’s varsity girls’ season opener against the host Neelin Spartans on Tuesday evening. Crocus won the game 63-28.

Savannah Tasset, a forward in Grade 9, put up a game-high 18 points in her Brandon High School Basketball League varsity girls’ debut on Tuesday.

Erin Buhr matched Tasset’s output as the Crocus Plainsmen upended the host Neelin Spartans 63-28 in the season opener for both teams.

Kassidie Giilck paced Neelin with 10 points.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ game, Riley Paul and Dayton Black both posted 21 points to lead the Spartans to an 83-45 victory over the Plainsmen.

Ethan Goertzen added 12 points for Neelin, while Colby Goos led Crocus Plains with 12 points of his own.
