One lengthy winning streak continued Tuesday in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League while another one ended.
The league-leading Dauphin Kings earned their 11th straight victory with a 7-3 win over the Portage Terriers while the Winnipeg Blues saw their
12-game streak end in a 4-1 loss to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Also Tuesday, the Steinbach Pistons beat the Winkler Flyers 5-4.
At Dauphin, Jon Gaudet, Francis Alarie and Conner Faupel each had a goal and an assist for the Kings (38-11-2). Brandonite Mitch Van Teeling added two assists for Dauphin, while Daulton Siwak, whose acquisition resulted in tampering sanctions against the Kings, scored in his MJHL debut. Tyler Anton and Dylan Butler each had a goal and an assist for the Terriers (29-20-1).
Wolverines 4 Blues 1
At Waywayseecappo, Matthew Miller scored twice as the Wolverines (21-25-5) upset the Addison Division leading Blues (37-13-1).
Pistons 5 Flyers 4
At Winkler, a goal and an assist each from Dan Taillefer and Myles Nykoluk helped the Pistons (28-21-3) tie the Terriers for second in the Addison. Tyler Swerdyliak had two goals for the Flyers (16-26-9). Winkler’s loss allowed the Swan Valley Stampeders to clinch a playoff spot.
