Doug Armour’s Westman team came a win short of capturing the provincial masters men’s curling title on Monday in Winnipeg.
Armour’s Souris-based foursome, featuring Ken Sabad, Bill Scott and Reg Warren, fell 8-2 to Ron Westcott of the Fort Rouge club in Monday afternoon’s provincial final.
Westcott, with third Ken Dusablon, second Bob Boughey and lead Ron Toews, will now represent Manitoba at the Canadian championships in Coaldale, Alta., March 31 to April 6. Winnipegger Pat Malanchuk won the masters women’s title on Sunday.
Armour, who went 5-2 in the round-robin before dropping a 5-4 decision to Westcott in Sunday’s 1-versus-2 Page playoff game, earned his rematch with Westcott by brushing by Pat Carson of Fort Rouge 6-4 in Monday morning’s semifinal.
