Boissevain native Natasha Armstrong will headline the Brandon Boxing Club’s upcoming amateur card on July 14 at Boissevain School.

The 14-year-old Cadet C national champion will compete in the card’s final amateur bout to showcase her skills to her hometown fans, which is why promoter Noel Harding wanted to take an event out of Brandon and to the Westman community.

"There have been many shows in Brandon and we decided to go to rural Manitoba," he said. "A lot of people (in Boissevain) wanted to see Natasha fight."

The card will also feature Brandon’s Isiah Hayden and Josh Seeland as well as Reston’s Erickka Patmore and Ste. Rose’s Scott Bouchard. Harding anticipates between 10 and 15 amateur matches.

Harding will also take to the ring for a professional exhibition bout against North Dakota boxer Jason Fuentes. Fuentes is managed by Richard Calavera, who Harding is hoping to sign with as a professional boxer. His previous Winnipeg-based promoter closed up business, leaving Harding free to sign with a new manager.

Rush seating is available for the boxing event, which starts at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Harding at 570-2634 or Neal Armstrong at 534-8429.
