Kayla Bauche scored four tries and Erica Cranston added three more for the Brandon Barbarians women’s team as they improved to 3-0 in the Manitoba Rugby season with a 67-26 win over the University of Manitoba Wombats on Sunday in Winnipeg.
Breanne Morgan added a try and six conversions, while Kya Townsend had two tries and Jamee George also touched the ball down for the Barbarians. The Wombats drop to 0-2-1.
Meanwhile, the Division 1 men’s Barbarian team improved to 3-0 in its Manitoba Cup tournament with 71-7 win over the Highlanders (0-3) in Winnipeg.
Sean Common had three tries, seven converts and four penalty kicks, while Owen Hagan added a pair of tries. Frank Urquhart, Nathan Peto, Steen Hinman-Miller and Aaron Kaluzniak also scored tries.
In the Division 2 men’s game, Michael Juce scored Brandon’s lone try and Andrew Ritchie added the conversion as Brandon fell to 1-1 in the Manitoba Cup with a 26-7 loss to the Wombats (2-0).
