The awards continue to roll in for Brandon’s Lisa Barclay.
Three days after being named most valuable player while leading the UBC Thunderbirds to their sixth straight CIS women’s volleyball title in Sherbrooke, Que., the 20-year-old Barclay has been named the Canada West female athlete of the week.
The 6-foot-2 left-side player, a graduate of Crocus Plains high school, was named a first-team All-Canadian this season.
At nationals, she had 17 kills in the quarter-final versus Laval, 10 kills and 10 digs in the semifinal victory over Trinity Western and 16 kills and 10 digs in the championship final versus Alberta to be named MVP for the second straight year.
