Brandonite Lisa Barclay will get a shot at her third straight CIS women’s volleyball championship today in Sherbrooke, Que.
The third-year left side had a team-high 10 kills as well as 10 digs on Friday as her top-ranked UBC Thunderbirds topped the fourth-seeded Trinity Western Spartans 3-1 (22-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-23) in their semifinal.
The Thunderbirds will face the Alberta Pandas in today’s final. With a win, UBC would match the record of six straight titles shared by the Pandas (1994-2000) and the Winnipeg Wesmen (1982-88).
Meanwhile, Souris native Rick Scott finished nationals with an 0-2 record as the head coach of the Dalhousie Tigers. The Tigers, seeded fifth, lost 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 28-26) to the No.8 Laval Rouge et Or in a consolation semifinal on Friday.
