Batson helps Vikes even series

Ryker Batson scored twice as the Vincent Massey Vikings kept their bid for a spot in the provincial AAAA high school hockey championship alive with a 5-2 victory over the Dauphin Clippers on Tuesday at Kinsmen Arena.

Bradley Schoonbaert, Kirk Dechka and Colin Holden also scored as the Vikings tied the best-of-three semifinal 1-1. Ricky Nicholson added two assists for Massey.

Game 3 of the series is set for Saturday at 6 p.m., in Dauphin with the victor to face the winner of the Crocus Plainsmen-Virden Golden Bears matchup for a spot in provincials.

The Plainsmen lead that series 1-0, with Game 2 set for tonight at 8:15 in Virden.
