Skate Brandon’s Casey Bertholet had a pair of first-place finishes at the Manitoba Summer Open figure skating competition in Winnipeg on the weekend.
Bertholet scored 53.36 to finish first in the Pre-Novice Flight A free skate and 29.77 to top the Pre-Novice Flight C short program.
Meanwhile, Kirsten Gutenberg scored 53.74 in her Novice Women’s Flight B free skate to finish first, followed by Tori Thiessen at 47.58 and Taylor McMurdo at 43.06. That capped Gutenberg’s weekend, which started with a second-place finish in the flight’s short program with a score of 29.31. Thiessen was third in the Flight A short program at 25.60.
Devon Borody finished first in the Pre-Novice Flight C free skate with a score of 39.10 and third in the Flight A short program at 19.90 points, while Madison McCallum had a pair of second-place finishes in the junior women’s ranks. Amy Todoruk was third in the junior women’s free skate, while Zoie Forgue placed third in the Pre-Novice B free skate.
