Graduating Vincent Massey Vikings goalie Cooper Blaine is taking his game south of the border.
The goaltender has signed with the Wichita Junior Thunder of the Junior A Tier 3 Western States Hockey League.
Blaine played in 23 games overall for the Vikings last season, going 14-9 with a 2.25 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage. The 18-year-old played in the WHSHL all-star game and the Manitoba graduating all-star game.
"Cooper is a bigger goalie with good fundamentals and will come in and compete for the starting job this year," Thunder coach Rob Weingartner said in a release. "We expect a lot of competition amongst our players in all positions and I am happy to have him on board with us."
