Blizzard battle back to stop Stampeders

The OCN Blizzard took a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Manitoba Junior Hockey Sher-Wood Division semifinal series on Monday night in Swan River.

The visiting Blizzard rallied with three third-period goals to beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 3-1 on goals by Nathan Bruyere, Wilson Dumais and TJ Constant.

Max Flanagan replied with the lone goal for the Stampeders, who took a 1-0 lead into the third period.

OCN netminder Justin McDonald stopped 38 of 39 shots and was named the game’s second star. Landon Noel made 33 saves for Swan Valley in front of a crowd of 538.

Game 3 will be played in The Pas on Wednesday night.

The other Sher-Wood Division semifinal continues tonight when the Dauphin Kings host the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in Game 3, with the series tied 1-1.
