The OCN Blizzard defeated the Virden Oil Capitals at Tundra Oil and Gas Place by a score of 5-2 in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League on Friday night.
Darien Cardinal led the Blizzard (34-14-4) with three points, while Sean Collins scored for the Oil Capitals (16-30-7). Kyle Beckett made 40 saves in the loss for Virden.
In other MJHL action last night, the Waywayseecappo Wolverines (19-24-5) beat the Terriers (28-19-1) in Portage by a score of 3-1. Curtis Veitch had a goal and a helper for the Wolverines, while Riley Hay scored the lone Terrier marker.
The Winnipeg Blues (35-12-1) won 4-1 over the Winkler Flyers (16-25-9). Jeremy Olinyk had two goals for the host Blues, while Tristan Keck scored the only Flyer goal.
In Selkirk, the Swan Valley Stampeders (27-18-4) downed the Steelers 5-2 to drop Selkirk to 24-23-5. Jordan Neduzak had two goals and an assist for the Stampeders, while Parker Thomas and Erik Pushka had singles for Selkirk.
