Brandon University Bobcats point guard Ilarion Bonhomme was named to the Canadian University Sports men’s basketball all-rookie team on Thursday.
The 20-year-old from Washington, D.C., averaged 12.2 points and six assists per game for the Bobcats this season, starting all 20 Canada West Conference games for BU, which went 7-13.
He was beaten out for the rookie of the year award by McMaster Marauders point guard Adam Presutti. Presutti, 19, averaged 11.6 points and four assists per game, helping the Marauders go 17-5 in the Ontario University Athletics conference.
Sophomore Carleton guard Philip Scrubb was the player of the year after averaging 16.2 points in only 23 minutes per game of playing time for the Ravens, who went 22-0 and often rested their starters with big leads.
