Derrick Brooks’ power-play goal midway through the third period stood up as the game-winner as the Neepawa Natives beat the Steinbach Pistons 2-1 on Wednesday night.
Troy Hoban scored the other goal for Neepawa (2-3-0), which went 2-for-7 with the man advantage in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League contest.
Kurt Johnas replied for Steinbach (2-4-0), which fired 57 shots at Neepawa goalie Cory Koop. Zach Rakochy made 27 saves for the Pistons.
WAYWAY MAKES A MOVE:
The Waywayseecappo Wolverines acquired 20-year-old forward Kyle Threndyle from the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Calgary Mustangs on Wednesday in exchange for future considerations.
Threndyle has two goals, three assists and 19 penalty minutes in eight AJHL games this season.
