The Brandon University Bobcats showed some resiliency early in their men’s volleyball match on Thursday night at the Healthy Living Centre, and it paid huge dividends.
Brandon (9-2) overcame a 12-7 deficit in the first set and battled through a tight second set, sweeping the Winnipeg Wesmen 3-0 (25-22, 29-27, 25-19). BU left side Sam Tuivai, the Canada West leader in kills, capped the Bobcat charge with 14 kills and three aces. Both Bobcat middles — Dan Boutwell and Brendan White — were involved in five blocks, with Boutwell adding five kills and White providing four. Roy Ching had six kills and was involved in four blocks.
