Kenonte Ramsey had a team-high 18 points for the Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball team as they beat the Manitoba Bisons 72-55 in pre-season play Friday night in Winnipeg.
Brandon dominated the game as it jumped out to an early lead and trailed Manitoba for a mere 19 seconds in the contest.
Emerick Ravier added 17 points and Ilarion Bonhomme had 12 for BU. Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak and Jordan Reaves were just shy of double-doubles. Benabdelhak finished the game with eight points and 10 boards, while Reaves had six points and 11 rebounds.
The Bobcats wrap up their pre-season schedule today against the host Winnipeg Wesmen.
Meanwhile, in Jamestown, N.D., the Bobcats women’s basketball team gave up 48 points in the second half and fell 82-62 to the host Jimmies. Cassie Cooke had 27 points for the Bobcats, who were up 35-34 at the break, while Kaela Cranston had nine. Point guard Aleah Bridges had a team-high nine rebounds, with Jaynell Gillett adding seven points and six rebounds for BU.
The Bobcats are off to Mayville, N.D., today to play the Mayville State Comets.
