BU men ranked 4th, women 7th in Canada West

Just how competitive is the Canada West conference in men’s volleyball?

The Brandon University Bobcats are ranked sixth in the country, but only fourth in Canada West in the first pre-season rankings of the season. Defending national champion Trinity Western is first in both polls, with Manitoba second in the Canada West poll and third in the CIS rankings, while Alberta is second in CIS poll and third in the Canada West rankings.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats women’s volleyball team is ranked seventh out of 12 teams in the Canada West pre-season poll. The five-time national champion UBC Thunderbirds, featuring Brandonite Lisa Barclay, are ranked first in both the Canada West and CIS polls.
