The Brandon University Bobcats could not handle the third most-potent offence in Canada West Friday night at the BU Gymnasium.
The Trinity Western Spartans (7-6) made 52 per cent of their shots and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds as they beat the Bobcats men’s basketball team 105-74.
“I thought we got off to a decent start and they wore us down by beating us on the glass and there were too many second chance opportunities,” Bobcats head coach Gil Cheung said. “ … For the first time, we didn't bring the necessary intensity and energy level. We just didn't have it (Friday).”
Ilarion Bonhomme led the Bobcats (5-8) with 17 points and four assists. Jordan Reaves had 13 points, while Ali-Mounir Benabdelhak scored 12. Donovan Gayle finished one point shy of a double-double, with nine points and 10 rebounds. Tristan Smith led Trinity Western with 31 points.
The Bobcats will host the Fraser Valley Cascades (8-5) today at 8 p.m.
