Kaylee Butterfield of the Souris Sabres girls’ rugby team has been named Manitoba’s Tri-Star rural high school athlete of the week.
A 5-foot-7 scrumhalf, Butterfield has helped the defending champion Sabres get off to a perfect start in the Westman High School Rugby League, scoring 10 tries in the first three games of the season.
“Kaylee is a special player and athlete,” Sabres coach Brian Yon said in a release. “As a Grade 10 student, she has quickly become one of our leaders and each time she steps out on the field, she gives it 100 per cent.”
