C-Hawks win North Central championship

Curtis Gardham scored one goal and set up the other four for the Miniota/Elkhorn C-Hawks on Saturday as they knocked off the Grandview Comets 5-2 in Elkhorn to repeat as North Central Hockey League champions.

Nat Howard added a goal and two assists as the C-Hawks won the best-of-five league final 3-2. Jason Bowles, Dillon Stonehouse and Kyle McLeod also scored while Cory Gardham made 19 saves for the C-Hawks, who pulled away with a pair of goals in both the second and third periods and netted a pair of markers while short-handed.

Jason Shaw and Steegan Stoski replied for the Comets, who got a 19-save effort from Danny McDonald.
