Braden Calvert has been named Manitoba’s Tri-Star rural athlete of the week after leading his Carberry Cougars foursome to the provincial high school boys’ curling championship on the weekend.

The Grade 12 skip guided his team to a perfect 11-0 record through their zone championship and provincials. Calvert, who sports an academic average of 77 per cent, also competes in basketball and golf for Carberry Collegiate.
