Captain Duncan Campbell’s four-point weekend helped the Brandon AAA Wheat Kings earn back-to-back victories and has also earned him the nod as the Chicken Chef player of the week in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.
The 17-year-old centre amassed four assists as the Wheat Kings beat the Yellowhead Chiefs 4-1 on Friday night at the Sportsplex, before dumping the Parkland Rangers 6-2 on Saturday night to improve to 7-1-0 on the season.
Campbell, who went to training camp with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings, has helped the Midget AAA Wheaties move into a tie for second place with the Winnipeg Wild and Pembina Valley Hawks.
The 6-foot-3, 176-pound Campbell (seven goals, 17 points) is also now tied for the league scoring lead with Eastman Selects forward Brett Howden (nine goals, 17 points).
Brandon returns to action on Friday night when it hosts Pembina Valley (7-2-0) at the Sportsplex at 7:30 p.m.
