Canada rallies in U18 game

Neepawa’s Halli Krzyzaniak set up the tying goal as Canada’s under-18 women’s hockey team came from behind in the third period to nip the United States 3-2 Thursday at Blaine, Minn.

Krzyzaniak, an alternate captain, assisted on Sydney McKibbons’ tying goal 4:03 into the third period. Eden Murray, a Medicine Hat, Alta., native whose parents are from Brandon, then set up Hannah Miller’s winner, scored with 4:04 remaining in the game.

Nicole Martindale also scored for Canada, which trailed 1-0 after the first period and 2-1 after the second.

The Canadian team, which also includes Ashleigh Brykaliuk of Brandon and Cassidy Carels of Bruxelles, faces the United States again tonight before the series wraps up on Sunday.
