Canada swept in World League action

Rivers native Toon Van Lankvelt racked up 12 kills over three matches as Canada’s men’s volleyball team was swept in the third round of World League action on the weekend.

Canada lost 3-0 to Brazil, Finland and host Poland to fall to 2-7 overall in last place in Pool B of the 16-team league. Van Lankvelt, a left side player, also added three blocks and an ace over the weekend, notching four kills against Brazil, three against Poland and five versus Finland. Meanwhile, Brandon setter Dustin Schneider was not on the roster this weekend due to a knee injury. Canada closes out World League action this weekend in Finland, but will not qualify for the playoff round.
