Cardinals' pitcher Adam Hartman lets fly during the second inning at Andrews Field, Wednesday evening.
The Canadian Tire Cardinals completed a perfect season by clinching the Brandon Senior AA Baseball League title on Wednesday night at Andrews Field.
The Cardinals defeated the Joe Beeverz Young Guns 16-7 to sweep the best-of-five final and finish the year with a perfect 29-0 record in exhibition, tournament, regular season, playoff and provincial championship play.
"It’s been a great year," said winning pitcher Adam Hartman, who worked five innings, giving up four runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts. "All of our guys have had a really good season and came together and played well after all being together for a year and we just had lots of fun and it showed on the diamond."
Last night, the Cardinals had 22 hits, led by Ty Paddock, who went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Jeff Neufeld drove in three runs while hitting two triples in the same inning for the Cardinals, while Chris Kennedy and Dylan Hapa both cranked a pair of doubles and Kirk Graham added three hits.
Losing pitcher Brock Anderson worked four innings and led the Young Guns at the plate with two doubles and five RBIs.
