Centennials take lead

Zac Hicks hit a pair of singles, drove in two runs and crossed home plate once as the Boissevain Centennials beat the host Hamiota Red Sox 5-3 on Friday to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five South West Baseball League final.

Ryan Albrecht and Tyler Workman also had a pair of hits and scored once for Boissevain, while Junior Brake struck out seven in his complete-game victory.

Logan McGonigal pitched all seven innings for Hamiota, which got a two-run home run from Ryan Brooks.

The Centennials will try to wrap up the series in Boissevain on Sunday at 6 p.m.
